The Angel Fund supports amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research in the day Neuromuscular Research Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital. ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a progressive, degenerative disease that causes paralysis by killing motor nerves. Unfortunately, loss of breathing strength is often fatal, typically within about five years. In most cases, the cause is unknown and the disease is untreatable.

We are confident that the combined efforts of laboratory scientists, neuromuscular clinicians and all of the wonderful people who give generously to this effort will ultimately lead to a cure for this devastating disease.
